Paul Muldoon will be headlining this year’s festival and Kinsale Arts Weekend is thrilled to
be giving ten up-and-coming poets the opportunity to take part in a free workshop led by Paul
himself.
In early February, we put out a call for applications from emerging poets (writers who have
yet to publish a single-authored poetry collection). The response was overwhelming. We
received a wealth of fantastic work from both Ireland and abroad.
The applications were presented anonymously to our team of judges. After much
deliberation, they have decided which ten applicants will attend the event. Their names are
listed below. If you have been selected, congratulations! Festival organisers will be in touch
shortly with further details of the workshop and a corresponding reading event in which the
poets participating in the workshop will have the opportunity to showcase their writing to
poetry lovers and festival attendees. The reading event will also aim to expose the poetry
writing workshop approach and provide a fascinating insight into the creative process itself.
If you applied and your name is not on the list, please do not be disheartened. The judges
were blown away by the quality of poetry they received. Due to limited space, many fantastic
writers have not made the final selection on this occasion.
Stay tuned to our website and social media pages for further details of Paul Muldoon’s
reading event. We would love to see you at this, or any of the other events taking place over
the course of the festival.
